To summarize this story: a Honolulu couple marries and has a daughter – Helena Kalanilehua – who grows into an intelligent, beautiful young woman. NKW also offers workshops and presentations on non-instrument navigation and way-finding. During these workshops, learners are introduced to the star compass, the one used by Papa Mau Piailug as well as the one adapted by Nainoa Thompson and the Polynesian Voyaging Society. They are also introduced to the four major starlines used in Hawaiian navigation and the elements used for navigation.
Participants will make a small pahu or hula drum. This is an intensive workshop on how to finish the drum, lash the skin of the drumhead to the lapaiki. Nā Ponohula participants will learn to perform an oli using the lapaiki.

No, I am not a lei maker nor a hula dancer but was in the market for a very “special” feather lei to be given to a Kahunanui. I had no idea where to get a “special” feather lei, let alone “a feather lei a gift’??? There is protocal when it comes to gifts to Kahunanui’s and I didn’t know where to begin. The death of Kamehameha I in 1819 was followed by a period of turbulence in Hawaiʻi. Changes included a new government, the adoption of a foreign religion, and the development of private property. Bio: The understanding of hula lineage, the actual tracing of a dancer’s history, is an important concept engrained in all members of Hälau Nä Kamalei by Robert Cazimero. It was in 1966 that he himself was introduced to the woman who would eventually teach him in the ways of hula. Ma‘iki Aiu Lake was a prolific teacher of hula, with the desire that each person express all they hear, see, smell, taste, touch and feel through this form of dance…in other words, she taught hula is life.

    I find no holes or spots, and it comes from a smoke-free home. It is labeled a size X LARGE. My clothing, unless otherwise specified, has been owned previously. I examine each garment scrupulously and disclose any flaws I find.

It was good!! No fishy smell either! It was honestly the best poke bowl I've ever had! You can tell she's passionate about this and that's refreshing because I know I'll always get high quality food from her.
