“how can fashion be sustainable”

Toddlers sometimes wore padded pudding caps much like modern crash helmets to protect their heads if they fell. Most small girls and many young boys wore stays, especially with dress clothing, since it was believed that stays supported the back and encouraged proper posture. As late as 1771, Williamsburg milliner Catherine Rathell advertised “thin Bone and Packthread Stays for Children of three Months old and upwards.” Not all children, particularly those of the laboring classes, were put in stays, however.

“I am convinced,” Mr. Kors said, “that there is something far more alluring about women wearing things that give them confidence, that don’t make them feel as if they have to tug at their hemlines or yank at their straps.”
The best way to understand the consumers’ needs and therefore predict fashion trends is through market research. There are two research methods: primary and secondary.[45] Secondary methods are taking other information that has already been collected, for example using a book or an article for research. Primary research is collecting data through surveys, interviews, observation, and/or focus groups.
I love the two colors together an outfit and the dog is adorable. Very cute outfit, it is a gift so I obviously need to put it in a box but I feel it was packaged the way a dollar store would sell clothing. Overall though I am happy with this purchase and can’t wait to see the little man wearing it!!!
Love Made Love is the go-to brand for stylish baby and children’s clothes for those between 1 and 13 years. In recent years, Asian fashion has become increasingly significant in local and global markets. Countries such as China, Japan, India, and Pakistan have traditionally had large textile industries, which have often been drawn upon by Western designers, but now Asian clothing styles are also gaining influence based on their own ideas.[23]
Children’s clothing has also followed recent trends in men’s and women’s fashion, which prioritise comfort and performance. “Athleisure is important,” says Kalenderian. “Most kids probably are not going to the gym or yoga, but mirror the parents’ way of dressing.” He also attributes an uptick in comfy, on-trend knit bottoms in drop crotch and harem silhouettes for boys, to parents wanting their kids to look as hip as them.
Description The preppy Ivy-league look met popularity in 1957 for boys, but leather jackets, symbol of rebellious youth, were popular as well. Boys and teens could choose from a plethora of cardigans, twill slacks, and collared shirts, all in stripes and checks.
After the show ended, Abe caught sight of Virgil Abloh backstage, but the designer was surrounded by press and fans. He nodded and smiled at Abe, but they didn’t get the chance to speak again. Fashion Week was over. It was time to go home.
Ms. Wintour has put stars of Mr. Weinstein’s films on more than a dozen of her Vogue covers over the years; prominently featured Marchesa, the label co-founded by his wife, Georgina Chapman, in her magazine; and hosted political fund-raisers with him. Her words make all the more stark the realization that from fashion, the third pillar of Mr. Weinstein’s power base, an industry in which he made major investments going back more than 15 years, and with which he hoped to burnish his empire, the overwhelming response has been a ringing silence.
It is difficult to predict a full year ahead, but there could be a world where the ballet staple makes a return to every-day life. Not since the ‘80s has this seemed truly possible, but with the return of crimped hair thanks to Beyoncé anything is possible.

Gap’s fashion misfires have been brewing even longer, with the brand initially caught flat-footed by the arrival of fast-fashion chains such as H&M and Forever 21. Gap has pivoted to more cheery colors and more ladylike silhouettes after customers balked at the minimalist, somewhat androgynous designs unleashed by former creative director Rebekka Bay. Around the time Bay left the company, Peck reportedly said to employees: “It’s a sign of the times, unfortunately, that when there was an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at the company, some of the sweaters there were from our current assortment.”
Description In 1956, girls would be at the height of fashion in their chinos or Bermuda shorts with striped pullovers or vestees. Suits, skirts, tops and jackets in wool and rayon were great for everyday wear, while pleated or quilted circle skirt jumpers were perfect for the holidays.
Social media is changing the way practitioners deliver messages,[12] as they are concerned with the media, and also customer relationship building.[53] PR practitioners must provide effective communication among all platforms, in order to engage fashion publics in an industry socially connected via online shopping.[54] Consumers have the ability to share their purchases on their personal social media pages (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), and if practitioners deliver the brand message effectively and meet the needs of its publics, word-of-mouth publicity will be generated and potentially provide a wide reach for the designer and their products.
“For his laid-back approach to every day dressing. He’ll wear a super relaxed shirt with a classic tailored suit and espadrilles on the red carpet or a denim shirt with printed silk trousers and suede boots on the streets of Paris. Combinations that, on paper shouldn’t work, but on Waris, always do” Alexander, Laurent and Raphael Elicha, the Kooples
If there was a part of the day that I would say was the most important, it would be my morning. What I do every single morning has a huge impact on how well my day goes. In today’s article, I wanted to share with you a few habits that you can use in your…

Leading luxury brand are shaking things up to keep up with streetwear. Case in point: the arrival of @mrkimjones as artistic director of @diorhomme. Jones, who succeeds @Kris_Van_Assche, is seen as one of the handful of designers who can actually straddle the luxury and streetwear worlds — which could lead to even more changes at established brands. Leading luxury e-tailers are also making strides into the market. Since launching in March, Farfetch’s childrenswear division has grown from 9 brands and 19 boutiques to nearly 70 brands and 30 boutiques. “The goal is to attract the same level of boutiques we always have [for adultswear] — but for kidswear,” says Candice Fragis, buying & merchandising director at the company. Additionally, in2013, Net-A-Porter’s Alison Loehnis confirmed the company had registered the domain petite-a-porter.com and “will explore kids.”
…because we’re all in this together!  When the waistband is busted or your name is still written on the back tag it’s probably time for an upgrade.  Toss out those dull tighty whities and dare to go bold in stripes or a variety of floral patterns.  Relax, it’s just underwear so you can handle it. USA Today tallied the heavy-handed Trump litigation strategy back in June 2016. Over three decades, Trump fought 3,500 lawsuits—and faced 200 mechanic’s liens—mostly arising from disputes over unpaid bills. His strategy was to contest everything, and never quit: “The Trump teams financially overpower and outlast much smaller opponents, draining their resources. Some just give up the fight, or settle for less; some have ended up in bankruptcy or out of business altogether.”
In the eighteenth century, children’s clothing underwent a gradual evolution from constricting garments patterned after those worn by adults to apparel designed specifically for them. The practice of swaddling infants tightly was gradually discontinued early in the century. Very young children of both sexes wore dresses with close fitting bodices similar to those worn by women.

Early last year, at a summit of East African heads of state, some of the regional leaders proposed a ban on the importation of secondhand clothing; English-speaking news sites such as Voices of Africa and CNN followed up by positing that old clothing from the U.K. and U.S. was creating a post-colonial economic mess. “Exporting low-quality clothing that has no value in our own society forges a relationship of dependency,” says Andrew Brooks at Kings College London. “You can call me idealistic, but I don’t really want to live in a world where people who are in the global south, the only clothes they can afford to buy are clothes you and I don’t want.”
Rarely unfashionable – but often overshadowed by their Crayola counterparts – sherbert hues are having a moment this summer. And rather than accenting or accessorising a look with a single piece, the runways have proved the power of pastel head-to-toe.
“At 44, Justin Trudeau is one of the world’s youngest political leaders – and the most famous Canadian politician since his father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Now regularly in the global spotlight at Davos, G20 Summits and state dinners, he is always very well turned out in tailored suits, but is also not afraid to dress down for public appearances, such as walking in gay pride parades.” Imran Amed, editor, The Business of Fashion
If you’re heading to a summer wedding, go breezy with a light and airy suit in a soft color, or slip on a pair of slacks and a nice dress shirt. Two-piece suits in a dark shade are practical and versatile at the office, allowing you to mix up your look with tops in different colors and styles. No men’s outfit is complete without the right accessories. Avoid unnecessary eyestrain and stay cool no matter how hot the weather gets with designer sunglasses from Ray-Ban or Oakley. Grab stylish belts, ties, and wallets to complete your look-du-jour before you head out the door.
Meanwhile, the luxury end of the childrenswear market is growing, fuelled by older parents in Western markets — who are further along in their careers and thus likely to have a higher disposable income — and increased demand from emerging markets, “where aspirational consumption lends itself well to lavishly spending on children,” says Kissane. Indeed, in China, the government’s one-child policy, coupled with increased spending power within households and parents’ desire to give their children benefits the previous generation lacked, has given rise to “Little Emperor syndrome”, a term coined to describe the tendency of Chinese households to spend heavily on only children.

It’s a nice sentiment, but it’s a gross oversimplification. Only 0.1 percent of all clothing collected by charities and take-back programs is recycled into new textile fiber, according to H&M’s development sustainability manager, Henrik Lampa, who was at the cocktail party answering questions from the press. And despite the impressive amount of marketing dollars the company pumped into World Recycle Week to promote the idea of recycling clothes—including the funding of a music video by M.I.A.—what H&M is doing is nothing special. Its salvaged clothing goes through almost the exact same process as garments donated to, say, Goodwill, or really anywhere else.
